We will always remind you—“Nowhere Like Limón, Limón is the land of Freedom!” Experience the beauty, magic, and rich history of Limón, Costa Rica, during the Día Del Afrodescendienté Reset-Retreat, designed specifically for our inaugural Chosen Reset-Retreat Connection & Leadership Cohort. Timed to align with Costa Rica's vibrant celebrations of Black Caribbean history, culture, and communal impact, this retreat offers an immersive and values-driven travel experience while investing in your holistic growth.

Our unique reset-retreat program includes intentional virtual and asynchronous community-building spaces, curated developmental workshops, and co-work spaces geared towards supporting our collective holistic wellness, leadership, and impact. The virtual curated spaces lead up to an in-person reset-retreat experience. You’re welcomed to participate in either the virtual experience or both.

Dio Aldridge
Founder

Dio E. Aldridge (he/él) is a proud Blatiné Trans man with deep Afro-Caribbean and Latiné roots. Born in Limón, Costa Rica, and raised in Southern California, his household was led by a Baptist minister and a social worker. They shaped his passion for community, care, and collective transformation—values that continue to guide his work today.

Dio is the Co-Founder of the non-profit, Chosen Leadership & Reset-Retreats, and CEO of Chosen Collective Consulting.

Sinaya Aldridge
Co-Founder

Aman Sinaya Abellera Aldridge (she/siya) is a critical educator, healer, and storyteller. She currently works as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Education for Human Resources at Oberlin College & Conservatory. Additionally, she is a Ph.D. student in Higher Education at Michigan State University. Kris uses arts-based research methods, specifically nonfiction and autoethnography, to excavate and release the history, truth, and impact of colonial education systems upon Filipinx diasporic communities.

Khalid Taylor
Community Facilitator

Khalid Taylor (he/they) is a queer, Afrolatiné documentary songwriter and community storytelling facilitator. As a Community Facilitator for Reset Outdoors, the Music Director for Joyful Voices, and Founder of Queer Quoir, Khalid seeks to amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ folks and people of color. His spiritual work in this lifetime is to help others re-align to their intrinsic power for the sake of collective liberation.

Jen Maramba
Title

Jen Maramba is a sacred witness, decolonizing healer with training in multiple modalities, including Integrative Somatic Trauma therapy. Rooted in the lands of the Anishinabewaki and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Jen honors the teachings of these territories while embracing her ancestral lineage from Pangasinan and Panay Island, Philippines.

Leo Aquino
Title

I’m a financial coach, educator, and the founder of Queer & Trans Wealth. I’m also an award-winning independent journalist covering personal finance from an anti-capitalist lens. Unlike most finance professionals, I am not trained to make the rich richer. I am an artist and activist. I am a non-binary first-generation immigrant who was previously unhoused. I am a worker among workers and I do not abide by capitalist definitions of wealth.

Sharifa Karimah
Title

Sharifa Karimah (she/ella)  is a vibrant, charismatic, and empowered woman with an easy-going demeanor. As a movement artist, dance teacher, performer, and certified yoga instructor, she brings a wealth of experience and passion to her work. Sharifa holds a degree in social work from the University of Costa Rica, grounding her practice in a deep understanding of community dynamics and individual needs.

How many meals are included in the experience?

Daily Breakfast, 2 Lunches & 2 Dinners

Are flights included? If not, what are the arrival and departure airports, dates and time?

We are not able to offer flights at this time. However, if you need support with booking your flight you can reach out directly.

The arrival and departure cities are SJO (San Jose, Costa Rica).
- Arrival Flight: August 27th, 2026 BEFORE 2 PM  work.
- Departure Flight:  September 2nd anytime AFTER 5 AM 

Pricing

You will feel it once you experience it. The space is meticulously and intentionally planned. We also want to respect the labor, expertise and gifts of all of our guides, facilitators and curators making the retreat special. Also, travel--like life, is continuing to increase in price. Chosen is continuing to build infrastructure to support increased financial access to the reset-retreat experience.

Are Payment plans available?

Yes, we offer a 4-6 month payment plans. 6 month payment plans include a 4% surcharge to accomodate for credit card and payment processing fees.

Can I sign up for ONLY the Virtual Reset-Retreat experience?

YES! We would love for you take part in our impactful spaces virtually. The spaces are intentionally curated to support holistic wellness, care and growth centered community connections, and leadership development.

It’s only me–should I join?

Oh Yeah! We get this question often--and without fail, those who role solo leave with a few lifelong friendships. You can choose to room solo or with someone new. If the latter, there will be opportunities to connect with your roommate prior.

What is NOT included in the Reset-Retreat pricing?

Not all meals, but Daily Breakfast, 2 Lunch & 1 Dinner. Transporation to solo or group journeys not already included in itineraries. We are happy to provide recommendations of vetted drivers and support with coordinating other local activities and tours.
